As we pick up in Hebrews 7, we see that the author resumes the point made in chapter 5.  We will see why it is important that Jesus is a "priest forever in the order of Melchizedek."  We also look at five characteristics of Christ's priesthood. His priesthood is divine, effectual, eternal, perpetual, and perfect.

What do you all picture a priest looking like?  Or doing?  Some of you may have spent time in churches that still call men priests.  What was their role?  A priest really has two roles.  He represents God to the people, and he represents the people to God.  These roles are important to remember today as we look at the passage in front of us.

Last week we started on the book of Hebrews.  We noted that Chapter 1 tells us that God has spoken through His Son in these last days and that His Son rules eternally.  Today, in Chapter 2, we see reminders that we shouldn’t drift, we shouldn’t think anything is out of His control, and we should not forget that He is Human.
